Weekend Photos: The Market Report
June 6, 2010 by Amelia
Yes, another photo post – sorry. It’s just that the market was so full of great stuff this morning. Food porn, in the flesh. Even though I’m getting more and more produce from my garden, there are lots of things I can’t resist buying at the market. This week I spent $25 and got a tidy little haul (see last photo).
There's so much I like to make with zucchini and summer squash. Very happy to see these in the market today.
Cherries have arrived!
I've never gotten Italian dandelion greens, but they sure are pretty. Are you supposed to eat them raw or cooked? Sauteed or steamed?
Golden beets. I'm still waiting for the ones in my garden to fatten up.
Garlic scapes are all over the place right now. I had a couple in my own garden, which I used to make a really amazing pesto (will post on this in more detail later in the week).
Here's what $25 got me at the market: a loaf of bread, three medium squashes, six eggs, a bag of garlic scapes, three large onions, a tomato, a bunch of sugar snap peas, three stalks of rhubarb, and a 16oz bottle of apple cider that I drank half of on the walk home. Not a bad haul.
