There are some new links over there in the sidebar. I keep finding out about new (or new to me) blogs here in the DC area that deal with some of the same issues I write about here. So I’m reorganizing the links to put DC-area gardening, food, and sustainability blogs into their own link category and adding these fine bloggers:
The New Urban Sharecroppers: These two guys took advantage of sharingbackyards.com, which helps connect landless wannabe gardeners in DC and other cities to people with yards who’d be happy to let someone else do the gardening. The guys are using the square-foot method in raised beds, and have done a great job documenting their progress. I can’t wait to see how things turn out for them. My one suggestion, guys: open up your comments section to people without blogspot accounts so we can all chime in!
The Indoor Garden(er): Kenneth is a frequent commenter here at Gradually Greener (and apparently used to work at my favorite bakery at the Dupont farmers’ market). He’s got an amazing amount of stuff growing indoors in his studio apartment, and also does some guerilla-esque gardening in planter boxes around the area. Very cool.
Virescent: A little garden blogging, a little environmental news analysis, and some great posts about her personal endeavors to live sustainably without going crazy.
Capital Spice: There are a LOT of DC foodie blogs out there, but I find the writing here to be especially vibrant.
The Garden Apartment: This Virginia-based locavore’s blog has by far the best photos of any of the DC blogs I read. I have major camera envy! She does a great job covering local markets and coming up with great recipes for seasonal produce.
Lastly, don’t forget to check out my longstanding favorite DC-based food & garden blogs: The Arugula Files, Metrocurean, Calendula & Concrete, The Slow Cook, plus a few counties away there’s Rappahannock Cook & Kitchen Gardener and Life in Sugar Hollow.
