Happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful mother, who reads this blog from back home in Olympia, WA. Yesterday’s post on foraging was a not-entirely-coincidental prelude to my present for her:
Sadly, the new book by forager-blogger Langdon Cook is not actually out yet, but I pre-ordered it for Mom because I know she’ll love it (my hunter/gatherer instinct definitely comes from her). Mom has had her hands full the last several months with a new chocolate lab puppy named Sam, whom she is hoping to train as a truffle-hunting dog someday. There’s also been talk of training the dog to sniff out new patches of Cascade blackberries, a very special wild variety native to the Northwest. Maybe there will be some extra insights in Cook’s book to help in the search!
I love you, mom!
