Technically I started this blog in the summer of 2008. But that summer I was only doing some very basic container gardening on my fire escape, and I was eating a lot of the unremarkable takeout food that political staffers tend to eat during campaign season. So the whole food & gardening theme was kind of a lost cause that summer. Fortunately, I was able to re-start this blog on April 10, 2009, exactly one year ago.
By that point I had been assigned a plot at the Newark Street Community Garden, and I was becoming a regular at the Dupont Circle Farmer’s Market. It’s been a good lifestyle, and a lot of fun to write about. Thanks to everyone for reading my blog!

It’s been fun (and inspiring) to hear about your garden. Happy blogiversary!
Well, keep it up! I know it’s difficult to keep posting every day (or every so often), but your blog and its comments give me something to think about, do, or cook.
Happy blogiversary ^_^ Don’t downplay it – it’s difficult to stick with something and life changes so fast on its own, that an entire year of anything is noteworthy. Also, the Aboriginals say that you always know best when it’s time to celebrate yourself =)
Happy Blogiversary Amelia, I really enjoy reading about your gardening and cooking adventures – they inspire me to grow my little herb garden. Keep it up!
Thanks, all! You keep me doing this.
Your blog is a bright spot whenever I wander by– probably more often than weekly now that spring has sprung. Thanks for sharing your gardening and cooking… it’s inspiring!
