Though there’s still plenty of summer produce at the markets, little hints of autumn have started to pop up. At some point in the cold months I will get tired of winter squash and apple cider, but right now they are special.

Someone was selling chestnuts at the U Street market. I'm not sure why nobody at the Dupont market sells nuts. I recall someone selling black walnuts at the Foggy Bottom market, but never at Dupont.
And in other signs of autumn, Octoberfest is coming up on the horizon. I’ve already mentioned that the next DC Food Blogger Happy Hour will be beer-themed. That event is on October 7 at CommonWealth.
