My iPhone camera had no zoom and couldn’t focus on close-range subjects. Now with my new camera and its 5x zoom, I’ve been a little close-up happy. I definitely couldn’t have focused on something as small as a bee with my iPhone. Note: clicking on these will take you to the super-big versions (mostly 3000 x 4000 pixels).

The jalapenos in the background are medium to full-size fruit; the little button is just the start of one.

Great photos, especially the final closeup of the bumblebee! Love the tomato shot, of course!
Clearly, you are going to have fun, fun, FUN with your new camera!
Because of the abilities of the camera I bought for myself for the holidays, I started carrying it around with me everywhere I went. I attribute my venture into blogging at least half to my camera and the awesome things I can do with it. I know you’ll have fun.
I love how you caught another bug in mid-flight to the left of the bee! I have been trying without success to photograph lightning bugs for some friends in Canada–one of my best, who is from Alberta, didn’t even know of these bugs until she came to visit me here during the summer a few years ago. She named them all Herbert and chased them around gleefully. But I’d rather trap them on film than in a jar, as we did as children.
I also love the layered-focus effect of such cameras–the lavender in the forefront and background are all fuzzy, but that one with the bee is in terrific focus!
